REDUCE CRIME

-End or renegotiate the terms of the DOJ Agreement with APD

-Update the APD data systems

-Establish strong neighborhood watch programs and focus on community policing

-Educate citizens on protecting themselves

-End ABQs sanctuary city policy

-Create City Ordinances banning Urban Camping and banning the obstruction of sidewalks

Cities who have a Department of Justice Agreement with there police department see about 30% increase in crime. These agreement force officers to investigate themselves rather than the criminals. This take officers off the street and also prevents them from being proactive. Politicians on both sides refuse to acknowledge that these agreement cause increases in crime because its politically incorrect to do so.

Many of the APDs data systems are nearing 20 years old up dating these will allow for better efficiency and better response times.

Its time the city encourage citizens to protect themselves through the use of firearms we need to educate citizens on how to use and apply firearms in a responsible manner.the city also needs to start educating citizens on properly securing there homes and vehicles.

The sanctuary city policy prevents APD from turning over violent offenders to federal law enforcement.

Create City Ordinances that maintain public order, urban camps are a center for crime and drug problems. Ending the practice of urban camping will lower crime, lower drug use and overall keep the community safe.

LIMIT GOVERNMENT

-Place term limits on City Councilors limiting them to serve no more than two consecutive terms.

-Reduce City Council Pay by 33%

City politicians should not be raising our taxes and spending our money unless they are willing to take a pay cut and limit their power first. If the council is unwilling to limit their own power, I will support any citizen led effort to put forward a ballot initiative to see this process through.

PUT LIMITS ON GOVERNMENT SPENDING AND PROJECTS

- Require a vote of the people and a large majority vote of the council to approve expensive projects

Pass a City Ordinance that requires the approval of 55% of voters and a two thirds majority vote of the City Council to approve government projects that cost more than $30 million dollars. This ordinance should also apply to a city budget increase of more than 4%  This would prevent city leaders from forcing projects like FART (Failed Albuquerque Rapid Transit) project on Albuquerque Citizens.

LET CITIZENS KEEP THEIR MONEY

It’s time the city of Albuquerque stops taking money from its citizens. We need to lower the gross receipts  tax and property taxes. We also need to explore allowing citizens, who do not have kids in the public school system, to have a discount on their property taxes. Citizens who are retired and live on a fixed income should also get a reduction/fixed amount in property taxes. The city also needs to to stop passing laws that cost citizens money such as the recently passed plastic bag ordinance, which is expected to cost the average citizen an extra $140 a year.
BUSINESS

Lower the gross receipts tax and every local business tax, this should be a top priority. Business licenses should be free and process to get permits needs to be streamlined. City ordinances that inhibit the growth of business need to be repealed. Finally, there needs to be a push for public private partnerships for deteriorating infrastructure and on large projects.
